Our pottery workshop with Pavlov Ceramics was a vibrant and enriching session designed specifically for mothers and their children attending M/others Who Make Birmingham Hub at Stryx.
Created in direct response to the needs discussed during our peer support sessions, this workshop focused on fostering collaborative creativity between mother and child—a unique opportunity to blend parenting and artistic practice.Mothers were invited to submit an expression of interest outlining how the session would benefit their child and contribute to their own creative development. The thoughtful responses demonstrated the importance of shared creative experiences in strengthening bonds and inspiring artistic growth.
Led by an experienced ceramics teacher from Pavlov Ceramics, the session was hands-on and engaging, allowing participants to explore the tactile joy of clay. Together, mothers and children created unique pieces that beautifully captured their collaborative efforts. Many of these works later featured in the Stryx Kids Community Exhibition, showcasing the power of family creativity and its role in shaping our cultural programmes. This workshop not only provided a space for artistic exploration but also deepened the connections within our community, celebrating the intersection of motherhood and creative practice.
