Stryx Code of Conduct for Studio and Gallery Use - reviewed April 2026

The following Code of Conduct was put in place in June 2020 and all studio holders should continue to follow it until further notice. This will help ensure that studio holders can work safely in their studios.

We all have personal responsibility for our own safety and it is important that you also consider the safety of others using the space.

What you can expect from Stryx:

  • Provision of cleaning products (disinfectant spray, disposable paper towels, hand soap and hand sanitiser) in the kitchen / toilet area / by the entrance to the gallery in Unit 13.

Soap dispenser is fitted in the kitchen area.

Hand sanitiser dispenser is fixed by the main gallery door.

Paper towel dispenser was fitted by the sink in the kitchen area.

  • Stryx communal doors, kitchen surfaces and toilets will be cleaned on a weekly basis by a professional cleaner, who will also refill the soap, hand sanitiser and paper towels. This provision will be reviewed on a regular basis.

  • Stryx will ensure the communal areas are tidy and free of obstructions and Health and Safety hazards

What we expect from studio holders:

  • You will use your studios for a specific purpose as specified in the Studio Holder Agreement signed before you move in

  • You will use the Gallery space following a booking procedure and when confirmed by a member of the Stryx team. Gallery use is allowed only when a completed Risk Assessment of the activity you are proposing is submitted and accepted by a member of the Stryx team.

  • You will not enable entry of any unauthorized persons on premises and all your guests will be directed into your studio space, unless the point above is fulfilled.

  • When you arrive, wash your hands thoroughly using soap in the kitchen area. When you leave, do the same.

  • It is good practice to sign in the guest book (sign out when you leave) when you come into Stryx. This is for H&S and Fire Evacuation purposes. All your guests will also have to do the same.

  • Window restrictors have been put on all openable windows. Please be careful when opening windows as they come out of hinges - open only as far as the restrictor allows (do not push the window too far out as it will pull the restrictor off ter frame - these are not there for safety but an indication of how far you can open the window).

  • Before leaving the space check if all windows are closed - this includes your studio windows and windows in the communal areas (gallery, kitchen and toilet). This is very important to ensure that space, yours and others belongings and equipment is safe and secure when no one is in.

  • Do not use internal communal bins. If you produce any waste during your working day, please take it with you, or dispose of it in the external bins in the Minerva Works car park when leaving.

  • When using the communal toilets, please clean down the seat, flush/wipe handle and door handles after use with cleaning products provided. Put the seat down before flushing and leave it down (if you make a mess please clean after yourself).

  • Stryx has CCTV cameras installed in the communal areas of the Gallery

  • You are responsible for a sufficient studio space / work production insurance covering you and your work in the studio. Stryx insurance will not cover your work at Stryx unless a Risk Assessment is submitted to Stryx for a specific activity taking place in the main Gallery.

  • If you notice anything out of the ordinary for example a leak, a blocked toilet, broken window etc, please report this immediately to Anna or Karolina.

  • If relevant follow gov guidance regarding Coronavirus rules

Please follow government guidelines for self-isolating after being ill. If someone in your household has symptoms of Coronavirus, please do not come in. Current guidelines are here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/what-to-do-if-you-or-someone-you-live-with-has-coronavirus-symptoms/staying-at-home-if-you-or-someone-you-live-with-has-coronavirus-symptoms/
