Join Artur Zerkalov, Ukrainian artist and academic based in Birmingham for a mini introduction course to Life Drawing throughout March at Cafe Stryx. The course is £40 for the course with individual sessions bookable for £12.50 each. Booking link below.
In this course we will treat tone and perspective as prior knowledge and address gaps during the course. The focus will be the anatomy of the head and a portrait with hands.
Lesson 1: Skull anatomy — bones, proportions, and form nuances.
Lesson 2: Portrait drawing — proportions and portrait features.
Lesson 3: Torso anatomy — skeleton, muscles, form, plasticity, and movement.
Lesson 4: Upper limb anatomy — skeleton, muscles, and hand drawing.
The practical part involves drawing a portrait in every lesson. The first two lessons focus on the head, and the last two on a portrait with hands.
Course Goal: Understand or get acquainted with the internal form of the upper body. After the course, we can continue practicing portraits to reinforce the knowledge — and maybe even move on to full-body studies.
