JQ Lates: Welcome to Room Art & Hecatomb

We have a very special double exhibition for JQ Lates: Welcome to Room Art, featuring the works of Photography Birmingham community (120 contributors!), Natasha Stoianovska with ‘I am not at home’ paintings, J.K Klein studios jewllery and Hecatomb by Matthew Springer.
'Hecatomb,' was an Ancient Greek public sacrifice of one hundred oxen, castrated bulls, a slaughter to appease the gods. This exhibition is a selection of works from a larger body which is preoccupied with the daily barrage of images of violence. All the work is screen printed, utilising different approaches and techniques, incorporating photographic and hand painted elements. Through distortion and exaggeration of these images Springer attempts to capture anxiety, the essence of a moment or an emotion in the material, abstract or otherwise.
