Mothership Exhibition 2026
13/06/26 - 05/09/26
Private View & Open Studios: 13/06/26 1- 4pm
Stryx, Jewellery Quarter

We’re delighted to invite you to the Mothership Exhibition, a celebration of creativity, care, and collaboration, running from Saturday 13th June to Saturday 5th September 2026 at Stryx in the Jewellery Quarter.
This special exhibition celebrates the inspiring work created by mother-artists and their children during the Mothership Residency, a pioneering programme that ran from 2nd March to the 5th June 2026.
Rooted in the values of inclusivity, care, and creative freedom, Mothership Studio offers a unique co-working environment where artistic practice and family life can thrive side by side. Through integrated, radical childcare and a supportive creative community, the residency provides a groundbreaking model that enables mothers to sustain and develop their artistic careers while navigating the realities of caregiving.
Join us as we celebrate the remarkable outcomes of this project at our Open Studio event on Saturday 13th June, 1–4pm, with artists talks taking place from 1:30pm. The exhibition will then be open to the public Wednesday – Friday, 10:30am–3:30pm and 10am - 4pm on Saturdays.
The Mothership Residency emerged from conversations with local mother-artists attending Stryx’s children’s activities and the Birmingham M/others Who Make hub, highlighting the urgent need for spaces that support both creative practice and caregiving. The programme was designed to nurture the professional development of mother-artists and creatives, providing dedicated time and space to reconnect with their work, explore new ideas, and experiment creatively.
Featuring work by: Anna Forsström Morris, Lily Hall, Jennifer Mae Spooner, Faye Stimpson, Yoshe, and Freya Whittaker, the exhibition offers a powerful exploration of creativity shaped by care, connection, and lived experience.
Together, these works reflect the resilience, imagination, and innovation emerging from artists and children creating on their own terms. We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate this vital and vibrant body of work with us.
