Stryx is inviting proposals for artists in residence - Winter –Spring 2020 (February, March, April) with exhibition programme concluding in February and March 2020
SCAFFOLDING is a brand-new artist residency addition to Stryx’s program. Measured to be radically experimental and form a working ground for ideas towards pension and financial security of artists and other freelance occupations. The project aims to focus on brave and imaginative ideas.
We are prepared to work with Utopian visions towards interesting solutions.
The 2020 edition of SCAFFOLDING aims for founding the ground for annual project.
SCAFFOLDING awards artists in The Midlands the opportunity to work for 3 months in the culturally thriving heart of Birmingham.
The residency grants artists with uninterrupted time and space to develop projects, as well as having the opportunity to expand into a wider artistic community across the West Midlands.
SCAFFOLDING residency is intended for artists who would benefit from thinking, research based residency, who want to develop ideas around pension and money saving / earning from perspective a freelance based career. Production of finalised art work is not necessary. Artists will be expected to take part in two exhibitions showcasing work in progress, experimental projects or ideas.
Selected artists will be based at Stryx for 3 months working towards a group exhibition in February and March 2020.
There will be scheduled events showcasing the work / ideas of chosen artists, including two Digbeth First Fridays.
There is no commitment to produce a final piece of work, but the artists will have to be able to display the progression of their work / research / ideas in any form during the open to public events.
