Small by Crow Dillon-Parkin
Stryx, Jewellery Quarter

Following on from the ‘Get Gallery Ready’ Bootcamp with Ruth Millington in Solihull College, the third solo exhibition by an ‘ex bootcamper’ opens in April in Stryx Gallery in the Jewellery Quarter. Crow Dillon-Parkin’s exhibition ‘small’, opening 2 April, follows Anisa Mosaiebiniya’ ‘As deep as possible’ in February and Maya Davis-Stokes’ ‘Places faces and spaces I have occupied’ in March.

Crow will be showing 28 ‘OestroDolls’, a project she has been working on sinc 2023, and was encouraged to finish while on the Get Gallery Ready bootcamp. ‘The OestroDolls are modern poppets or witch dolls constructed around empty Oestrogel (HRT) bottles, which are a biohazard if improperly discarded. The method
of making depends on the character and on what materials Crow has available. Each doll represents a mythical or historical female character. Some are from establishe folklore, some have come from her imagination. ‘They are like grown-up versions of the national costume dolls that my Nannan collected for me when I was a small child.’
