Our next Window Residency artist is Katherine Howes. Howes will be exhibiting a fine art video installation for the window residency entitled: ‘All Seeing Eye’.

The ‘All seeing eye’ is a symbol which has feature throughout history in many different cultures and societies. It has often been used in North America and Russia symbolically on money or seals associated with power. It represents the omnipresence of God, watching the action of humanity and serves as a reminder ‘we are being watched’.

As the shop looks back at us; flipping the usual Gaze of consumers viewing products, we become the product of our society, raising questions about our relationship with money, where we spend it and what we buy.

Stryx 3A: All Seeing Eye Jewellery Workshop with Katherine Howes
Stryx JQ Gallery
11am - 1pm

Join us at Stryx café to create your own All Seeing Eye jewellery.

We will develop small scale drawings and paintings from our own eye, or the eye of a significant Other, inspired by 18th and 19th Century miniatures and the History of eye symbolism.

We will then cast our studies for all eternity in resin! The final product will be a pendant/talisman that you can take home to watch over you, or gift to an Other; so you will always be watching!

Please come prepared with a large, detailed image to work from, if you are working from the eye of an Other.

Places are free, but booking is essential. Tickets available here: All Seeing Eye Workshop. This workshop is designed with people aged 50+ in mind, but adults of any age are welcome.
