SPOT VR Residency
Private View Friday 5th September 6-8pm, Friday 3rd October 6-8pm
Stryx, Minerva Works

Spot VR Residency 2025 features Sarah Harris and Ray Vincent Mills.

Sarah has said of her residency: “During my residency, I’ll be experimenting with VR to create immersive digital collages — layering iterations of self-portraits in a 3D space. I’m also exploring 3D modelling in VR and printing, with the idea of turning physical objects into interactive AR experiences by assigning them digital targets. It’s a chance to blur the lines between physical and virtual, and to play with how we see ourselves through these layered, shifting spaces.”

Ray is typically a writer and performer, sticking to the mantra of being a baby at things. Over the past couple of years he has been trying to explore different art forms for different themes & topics. With this residency Ray is interested in using VR to attempt to explore the volatility and experience of living with bipolar disorder. Something he often feels like he does not have words for.

Spot VR Residency is a programme dedicated to artists representing the global majority, who would like to explore VR as a new way of making their work or develop their already existing VR practice. This follows the launch of StryxVR gallery space in 2020, and the first of our VR artists’ residencies, with Joyce Treasure and Chadwick Jackson. This was followed by a second iteration of the Spot residency in 2023 featuring Abulrazaq Awofeso, Tomilola Olumide and Aaliyah Shaw.
